The Grand Final of the 2008 Tour kicked off in true Bristol-fashion with the traditional curtain-raiser - the £100+10 NLHE freeze-out. A record 149 runners for a side-event made the total pot just under £15,000 with £5,000 for the winner.
Many players were down for the week, warming up for the 'Championship Event' and taking advantage of the now famous cash game action.
After several hours play and a fine Chinese buffet, the bubble burst on level 13, and by level 14 we had our final nine.
At the end of a long final table we were down to heads-up, with local player Alex Torrance, winner of the £1000 event at last year's Grand Final, taking first prize and a seat in Tuesday's £500 event.
