Bristol GBPT Grand Final – £1000 Freezeout (Day 1)
The £1000 event started at 5pm shuffling-up-and-dealing with 51 runners. 10,000 starting chips, an hour’s clock and low blinds, ensured all poker players got to ease their way comfortably into the cards.
Added incentive included a £2,500 Main Event seat up for grabs for the winner and a buy-in to a £500 2008 GBPT event for the runner-up.
Amongst the tables included familiar faces to the European Poker scene with the likes of Lucy Rokach and Charalambos Xanthos, pitted against a mixture of players following the tour as well as local the contingent.
At 4:00am on Wednesday morning, we were down to just nine players, with some familiar ones doing rather well. Final tablist in Bournemouth, Robert Butt, led the way with just under 142,000 chips, followed by Lucy Rokach, on 137,000. GBPT Nottingham champion Steve Holden is in 4th, and Bournemouth winner Pete Singleton 8th, with 8 players paid.
