Highlights and Selected Key Hands From The Final Table.
Final table started at 3.45am with Ifran holding a massive chip lead on 317,000
First hand short stack Gerry O'Farrell sees the running ante & BB put him all-in with 6 6. Phil Othen re-raises all-in with A J to 21,000 & Mohammed Ifran calls with A 9. Board is 10 8 6 5 4 and O’Farrell trebles through in 1st hand, while Othen picks up 16,000 sidepot.
Soon after Phil Bennett goes all-in with A 8 and is called by SB & BB; John Manzie on BB hits his J to knock out Bennett.
8000 & 16000 & running 1500
O’Farrell all-in with 10 8 Hearts, 28,500. Deuchars calls with 7 7. Flop is 6 3 4; 8 on the Turn gives O'Farrell 8 8, but 5 on the River gives Deuchars a straight, and 6 remain after just 10 minutes of final table play.
Within 2 hands Shaun Bennett goes all-in with K 5, 15,500 (BB 16000), and is called by SB. Flop and Turn are Diamonds giving John Hyde a flush and Bennett falls.
Another 3 hands and John Manzie raises all-in (48,500) with 47 Diamonds trying to steal, and is called by Jim O’Connell with A J off. Board comes 3 J 8 8 9 rainbow and O'Connells A J holds up and we are down to 5 within 20 minutes.
Blinds 10000 & 20000 & Ante 2000
With the BB at 20,000, chips are passed round the table for a fair duration as play slows down; several all-ins are doubled through or pick up blinds as the clock ran down and players were cautious, protecting their chip stacks with a view to maximising their share in the final chip count.
Blinds 15000 & 30000 & Ante 3000
James Higgins all-in for 19,000 with J 10 and is called by Dan Deuchars’ A 10. Board is 2 3 4 Q Q, and Deuchars sees off another with A-high and we are down to 4.
And that’s the way it stays as the clock runs down and we have a chip count. Ifran built a big stack with solid play and protected his clear chip lead throughout the final table, and takes home £6,440 and a Main Event seat - not a bad night's work!
